Calibration - Tank and Meters

  Explanation and Capabilities
  tank calibration

Tank Calibration

When you need to know the true volume in a non-linear tank, Rodem has the answer.  We will come to your facility and perform a “WET“calibration of the tank.  We will gradually fill the tank with water using our certified and tested metering system.  Each fill has a predetermined volume and we measure the mAmp output change on the tank level sensor.  After 70 –99 observations we complete a 100 point calibration reference table to give true volumetric readings.   This information is then loaded into your Liqui-Track or Pulse Inventory Management System by Anderson or into your local automation system software.  The specific gravity conversion from water to your product is handled in the Inventory Management System correct for weight/gallon conversion.

Meter Calibration

Rodem’s meter calibration service provides a proven method to confirm and improve the accuracy of your process meters

Operations Overview

During a meter calibration one of our Instrumentation Engineers brings in a NIST master meter(s). The hoses, fittings, and meters are sanitized using the customer’s chemicals. The customer’s meter is inspected; we then integrate our master meter in your system. The customer uses normal batching procedures and any repeatable error is logged. A change is made to the customer’s meter or batch controller to correct any repeatable error. Once the new K factor is checked and the meter is running within its specification, the ingredient in the master meter and the customer’s meter is run to completion. Rodem’s master meter hoses and sight glass are removed and flushed with city water until clean. A NIST style report is prepared for the customer’s and Rodem’s files.

  Calibration Benefits

  • Improves efficiency by increasing the accuracy of ingredients so that the batch can be done correctly the first time without adjustment.
  • Saves money by insuring proper ingredients are utilized for proper yield and batch control.
  • Preventative maintenance on meters with wear parts ends unscheduled downtime.
  • Provide compliance  documentation for ISO 9000, and other corporate certifications.
